Safe Schools Conference

The PLUS Program is excited to be part of the upcoming Safe Schools Conference in Long Beach, California on August 1-, 2012. Los Angeles County Office of Education, California School Resource Officers' Association, the Calfornia Juvenile Police Officers, Association, Verizon, and Dave Long Associates invite you to learn about the critical issues schools will be facing and cost effective strategies to deal with these same issues. The conference will discuss the direct link between school safety, learning, attendance, and higher test scores and is appropriate for school administrators, school board members, school counselors/psychologists, school resource officers/police officers, safe school personnel, school nurses, probation officers, youth service workers, and parents. Keynote Speakers: Tom Torlakson, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Chauncey Veatch, former California Drug Czar and National Teacher of the Year, and Commander Josef Levy, Long Beach Police. Conference strands will focus on the top school safety issues facing schools today with solid strategies focusing around school board policies, prevention, intervention and law enforcement strategies such as: Bullying and Cyberbullying Issues**Gang and Youth Violence Prevention and Intervention**Dropout Prevention**Crisis Response**Alcohol and Other Drugs**Building a Positive School Climate**plus many more. There will be approximately 66 workshop sessions tied to eleven different conference strands. |
