1. How is the PLUS Program different than other peer programs?
PLUS focuses on developing a group identity for all youth. The PLUS model creates a sustainable, ongoing program for your campus. PLUS is cost effective and can be implemented District wide.
The PLUS Program is one of the few approaches in education which uses the natural channel of peer influence to address critical issues. The PLUS Program is flexible to fit the needs of all campuses.
2. Do I need a peer program already established to get the PLUS Program going at my site?
No, The PLUS Program will help you develop a Peer Leader Program for your campus.
3. What if I already have a Peer Program in place?
The PLUS Program will train your peer leaders that you already have with the PLUS Program activities. Our program can compliment other student programs on campus.
4. Can PLUS be implemented in elementary schools?
Yes. Rather than have a team of students trained in the activities, a team of 2 -4 staff members will serve as the PLUS Team. These staff members will be trained in the PLUS model and implement the PLUS activities.
5. Has PLUS been proven to work?
Yes. The PLUS Program model is embedded in the research implemented on peer educator programs. These programs have been proven effective and are considered research based.
6. Is there a curriculum that PLUS utilizes?
Yes. PLUS supplies schools with a Program Development Manual and an activity based curriculum with a set of activities to be implemented year round. PLUS also has developed a student workbook which is utilized to develop the skills of student facilitators. These manuals address a variety of subject matter which advisors will train their leaders with in the classroom.
