Training

The PLUS Program offers multiple training options. It is our #1 goal to assist your district and school in implementing this program. The objectives of the student trainings include:

  • Team Building – the importance of belonging to a team
  • Learn the qualities of being a mentor and role model
  • Foster student skills for improving communication & listening
  • Strengthen student knowledge of youth trends and data
  • Increase public speaking skills
  • Lead and facilitate large group discussions & focus groups
  • Conflict Mediation Strategies

 

Student Trainings


PLUS School On Site Training (2-days):
On-site training is designed for schools already implementing the PLUS Program and new schools who are preparing to implement the program. Students (50-60) and the advisors will participate in an action - learning environment to enhance the leadership skills required to implement the PLUS Program activities. An in depth understanding of the PLUS Program and an overview of all activities will be facilitated by a PLUS Trainer. This is a great opportunity to get your PLUS Team trained and ready for the school year! Students will learn how to use their skills on campus and in their community through the implementation of PLUS! Training includes the PLUS Facilitator Manuals and 1-year of consultation.

Youth Leadership Enhancement Training (6 hours): The Y-LET is designed for Activities Directors and schools clubs. This training will equip an identified leadership team with skills and strategies to lead on your campus. This 1-day training targets a small group of leaders, such as an ASB class, athletic teams, or other campus clubs. With this training your school will receive a small group training and large group training:

  • 4-5 Hours Youth Leadership Training for identified leaders on a campus - not to exceed 50 students
  • 1 hour Keynote Presentation for a large group of identified youth leaders on a campus - not to exceed 400 students

 

School & Staff Trainings


Staff Leadership Development (4 hours):
The core of this workshop is to build identity, understanding and connections between staff members to strengthen the culture of your district and school. The objectives of this workshop include:

  • Team Building
  • Staff Pulse
  • Identify Critical Issues within your Organization
  • Action Planning
  • Improving Knowledge of Components in Youth Development

 

Parent Table Talk (6 hours): This parent workshop is designed to engage parents in open dialogue on youth development and the impact it has on social and academic success. The objectives of this workshop include:

  • Equip parents with a firm knowledge of youth development and the constructs that define it
  • Provide strategies for parents to utilize in the development of their children
  • Identify emerging trends that can impact the health and welfare of children
  • Equip parents with an action plan on how to communicate, engage and participate with their children
  • How to id entify positive social groups in community and the importance for youth to belong to a peer group.

 

Advisor Trainings


To become a PLUS Advisor at a school site, we offer Training Workshops: Your school will get an in-depth understanding of how to implement the PLUS Program. You will leave with the knowledge and resources to implement the program on your campus(es).

Your school will receive the PLUS Program Curriculum included with the training.
