PLUS Program

To develop the PLUS Program on a site there are two training options for implementation. Both options provide schools with the PLUS Program Curriculum. 

PLUS Program Development 
The PLUS Program Development Trainings will build up youth leadership programs and advisors with the skills, curriculum, and a sustainable framework to systematically develop a positive school climate. Schools will learn researched based strategies and activities that truly make a difference when it comes to addressing core campus issues, such as racism, violence, bullying, and harassment. Implementation of the PLUS Program will enable schools to discover the true PULSE of their campus climate and the behaviors of the student body that need to be addressed with youth leadership activities. The PLUS Program is a youth development process which establishes a foundation for students to have a voice, build community, feel included, and engage in meaningful participation

Option 1:

2-Day Advisor Training Offsite

      • Understanding peer program research and its impact on youth development and developing a safe school environment.
      • Using peer educators in proactive situations to alleviate youth violence and address critical campus issues.
      • Develop Safe School Actions utilizing Youth Leaders under the scope of Prevention/Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery
      • Understanding data and trends of critical youth issues
      • Getting Started with PLUS Program Implementation: identifying and selecting and training student leaders
      • PLUS Program Development: customizing your PLUS class, club, or after school program
      • PLUS Forums: organization, implementation and evaluation
      • Cross age mentoring strategies and activities
      • Establishing your calendar of events
      • Sustaining your PLUS Program: fundraising strategies, grant writing and community partnerships
      • Data collection: Collecting and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative campus numbers

 Option 2:

Onsite Student/Advisor Training

      • Students (50-60) will participate in an action - learning environment to enhance the leadership skills required to implement the PLUS Program activities. The objectives of this 10 hour workshop include:
      • Team Building – the importance of belonging to a team
      • Learn the qualities of being a mentor and role model
      • Foster student skills for improving communication & listening
      • Strengthen student knowledge of youth trends and data
      • Increase public speaking skills
      • Lead and facilitate large group discussions & focus groups
      • Conflict Mediation Strategies
      • Application: Students will learn how to use their skills on campus and in their community through the implementation of PLUS.
      • PLUS Forums: organization, implementation and evaluation
      • Cross age mentoring strategies and activities
      • Establishing your calendar of events based off of data assessment gathered in PLUS Forum.
      • Student Leaders will learn techniques to facilitate discussions on critical issues amongst a group.
      • Student leaders will practice analyzing student beahvior data and developing program strategies to address identified behavior

TEEN TRUTH PLUS - 2-Day Event

TEEN TRUTH PLUS, A comprehensive program that focuses in on youth development and building safer schools, combines the life changing TEEN TRUTH LIVE School Wide Assembly Experience with the powerful safe schools PLUS PROGRAM Onsite Training Development. This comprehensive 2-Day event will begin by reaching your entire student body with TEEN TRUTH LIVE’s powerful school-wide assembly experience. Upon completion of the assembly experience, 30-50 handpicked students from every social facet of your campus will receive the PLUS youth leadership training. These student leaders will learn how to implement activities to identify and respond to the critical issues that threaten your school culture. Each school will be receive a comprehensive TEEN TRUTH and PLUS Program Development Curriculum to use as a guide to keep the campus development consistent and sustainable. After TEEN TRUTH PLUS visits your campus your empowered leaders will use the knowledge of your campus issues to connect the entire student body and drive proven school climate change

CyberBully Alert Internet Safety Program

The act of kids bullying one another is not a new safety concern for parents or schools, but cyberbullying is. The Internet and social networking sites have established an unsupervised arena for individuals to attack one another. A drastic difference between schoolyard bullying and cyberbullying is that there are no adults supervising in the cyber world. In the cyber world, kids are left alone to deal with the emotions that result from online harassment.  To address this emerging trend schools and students need to begin a cycle of actions as a response.  This training program will highlight a variety of strategies that the PLUS Program must engage in to become active participants in the fight against cyberbullying.

This powerful addition to the onsite PLUS Program training will challenge student leaders to tackle the critical issue of internet and cyberbullying by coming together and taking care of one another. This one of a kind program option will equip all students on a campus with the internet safety software, CyberBully Alert.  This unique option gives schools a powerful youth leadership activities, backed with the protection of the internet safety software CyberBully Alert.Students will learn current data, trends, and forms of cyberbullying and bullying. Students will be challenged to take a stand and support one another on a campus. Student leaders will learn how to teach other students about cyberbullying and how to utilize Cyberbully Alert software to document, alert and report any cyberbullying they or a friend might encounter while online.

PLUS Program Curriculum Includes:
  • Manual 1: PLUS Program Development

The guide will prepare a school site with the implementation strategies to establish the PLUS Program on a school site. Advisor will develop a strong understanding on how to gather data, select student leaders, organize community efforts, and establish a foundation for the PLUS program to be successful.

  • Manual 2: Establishing a Commitment to Actions, Identity, and Purpose.

The guide will guide an advisor through the steps to train, prepare and implement a PLUS forum on campus. The PLUS Forum is the core of the PLUS Program and the source for identity development and data gathering.

  • Manual 3: A Guide to Ongoing Actions

This guide will lead an advisor to a variety of activities to sustain the PLUS identity on a campus. All activities focus on team building and enriching the student community on a campus.

Classroom Curriculum Includes:

  • Developing the PLUS Team Member
    • This 125 page student work book is complimented with a 84 page teacher guide to develop the leadership and facilitation skills of the PLUS Team member.   Over 15 learning objectives have been aligned with the National Education Health Standards to develop the personal attributes of the PLUS Team members.

 Program Implementation Costs

  • Two Day Advisor Training Offsite - $1495 for a team of 1- 4 Staff Members from a school site
    1. This training can be attended by up to four staff members from a designated school site. Participants attending the Training of Advisors will each receive a PLUS shirt and one set of Program Implementation Manuals for the School Site.
  • Two Day Student/Advisor Training Onsite - $2750 for up to 60 students and 5 advisors

This training will equip student leaders and advisors with the content, capacity, and curriculum to implement the PLUS Program on a campus. Training includes:

      • One set of PLUS Program Implementation Manuals.
      • Classroom Curriculum
      • 1 Teachers Guide to Develop the PLUS Team Member
      • (20) Student Worksbooks to Develop the PLUS Team Member
      • (20) PLUS Team T-Shirts - More shirts can be purchased if training more than 20 students
      • 8 - 10 Hours of Facilitator training
    • CyberBully Alert Internet Safety Training Option - $3750 (E Rate Funding Applicable) Includes:
      • The Onsite PLUS Program Training Option
      • Download of CyberBully Alert for all students on the campus
      • PLUS Program Implementation Package
        • One set of PLUS Program Implementation Manuals.

        • 1 Teachers Guide to Develop the PLUS Team Member
